DIY - Repainting Stock OEM RIms using VHT Paint

This is on a Toyota Rav4 but this can be done to any vehicle .

Issue was rims were fading so I just wanted something to make it look better - I used Rim VHT paint not just any other brand . ( Very High Temperature )

You can either wash the whole rim with Dawn soap and water , Then I used degreaser , Let is sit dry in the sun .

I found a scotch brite pad just to scuff it a little , You can get more detailed with sand paper but these rims were faded not ruined completely . Then with alcohol for the final wipe of dust and grease .

You can use business cards to protect your tire from being hit with paint . As you can see in the photo how bad the rims were getting .

I only did two coats because I needed the vehicle right away but if you want to add more or even clear coat that is fine . But for me this is perfect for what I'm looking for .

Final look .

DIY Replacement Transmission Filter & Fluid 2000 Infiniti I30

This is a DIY on how to replace your transmission filter and your fluid on a 2000 Infiniti I30

THIS IS NOT A TRANSMISSION FLUSH ONLY FILTER AND GASKET REPLACEMENT

Make sure you match up the gasket to the transmission pan before attempting this - Best to count the bolts before buying your parts

Personally I like to remove the dip stick so that air can travel down the tube and push out the old fluid since we aren't getting any of the fluid out of the torque converter

Once fluid is removed from pan put the bolt back then loosen up the bolts starting from the front with a oil pan catcher underneath it - Then slide front of pan so if any more fluid will spill into the pan

Then you can start removing the filter in my case I stuck the bolts in the new filter plastic so that you can remember which one they will go because there are different lengths

While the transmission is still dripping you can start cleaning and removing and inspecting the pan for shave metal and clean magnet with Degreaser

Match up your filter

Unfortunate they discontinued the transmission fluid this vehicle takes and the Dexcron VI is the new compatible fluid

Spray with brake cleaner on your transmission and clean the area around the gasket so that you have a oil less area

Gently tighten the bolts up not squeezing out the gasket - Some people use the black gasket maker - Then in my case I added some Lucas transmission fluid to help out

Run the engine then go through each gear - Then check fluid and re do the gears once more also check for leaks

Then you are finished

DIY Replacement Rear Brake Caliper 2000 Infiniti I30

This is a DIY for a 2000 Infiniti I30 driver side rear brake caliper replacement

DO NOT REMOVE THE BRAKE HOSE AT THIS POINT - You first remove the emergency brake cable from the back then you can remove the brake caliper completely then lay it on the ground still connected to the brake hose .

Once you have the caliper off then you can which in my case I put new rear brake pads on the vehicle - Properly lubricating the parts and replacing the old parts with the brake caliper kit provided .

Then you can connect your brake hose to the caliper and the reason for this is because then your less likely to bleed the whole system by doing this you lose little brake fluid and you can just bleed what you replaced .

Connect emergency brake cable and then inspect the whole system

Then you can bleed the caliper that you replaced - If you feel spongy then you bleed the whole system starting with the rear which is most farthest from the brake master cylinder
