DIY - Trailer WIre Kit installation 2009 Toyota Rav4

This is for a 2009 Toyota Rav4 Trailer Installation Kit .
Part #118412

Removing all the carpets and trunk area to freely install the wire kit - Then you start with the back of the plastic protector

Removing the bolts and screws on the side panel then gently pull away from the vehicle - This way when you wire up you can cross the brake light wires from left to right

On each side you can add the center connector - Remove the plug then re plug into the by pass wires

As you make sure that the box is on the driver side of the vehicle - Tuck and hide your wires then you will see a rubber plug and slice a hole it in to that when you wire up to the battery that will be your access hole .

Ground your wires and crimp the main wire then start sliding all your wiring in the hole that you removed the plugged from

Now travel down the driver side of the frame and tie strap the wire making it safe from falling or rubbing on anything - Take your time

Then with the fuse you need to cut it in the middle again hide wire - crimp your hook then connect it to the positive side of the battery

Once you have everything wired up and secured then you can put everything back - Use Dielectric Grease for your plug - Wrap it up securely so it doesn't rub then test wire to trailer .

DIY - Troubleshooting Rear Back Up Lights Not Working 2005 Toyota Corolla

This DIY is for ANY 9nth Generation Corolla

When you have checked the bulbs and the wires in the elbow of the trunk .

I don't know why mine was missing a piece but as I did for the trunk light I traced my rear back up light wire to this opened end box .

You have to pull down the driver side carpet to find this junction of wires .

As you can see the 3 wires are connected to get the both back up lights to work .

The bottom 2 wires are for the trunk light which I do have another DIY on it .

These are many angles of how it should look - I don't know what was missing but if I go to a junk yard I will look for this piece .

DIY - Troubleshooting Trunk Light not Working 2005 Corolla

This DIY is on a 2005 Corolla .

When I purchased this car the trunk light was not working and I couldn't figure out why . I checked all the fuses and the wire to see if maybe it was disconnected .

I noticed that the rear light socket had power coming through it but when I grounded the other wire then the light came on .

So I went to the trunk light switch where I noticed there was no power going to it so I followed the wired to the rear side panel where you have to pull the carpet down .

I noticed there was a plug with nothing plugged into it . Then I noticed one wire was on the left the live wire was on the right .

So I connected the two plugs together and the light switch works .

I don't know if anything went there but it was odd to see that the wire went to no where .

I put silicone there to make sure the wires do not move or touch each other .

I put everything back and now I have power again .
