DIY 93-97 Rear Motor Mount Replacement

This is a DIY for the rear motor mount .

For this DIY you need to raise your corolla real high so that you have room to work underneath it . You do not need anything to hold the engine up .

First remove the muffler pipe bracket . Then you remove the center bolt of the rear mount .

Then you can remove the bolts to the rear motor mount and remove the bolts for the sub frame but DO NOT REMOVE THE SWAY BAR LINKS OR BALL JOINTS
The purpose of removing the sub frame bolts is so that you can pull it down and remove the rear motor mount while the sub frame is still hanging .

Then once you remove the rear motor mount you go in reverse to put it back on . But you can start by putting the center bolt then push up on the sub frame and put all the bolts back .

  1. Thanks for posting this.

Quick question- where is the sway bar on your vehicle? I'm not seeing it in the pictures. I drive a 2000 model, and (what I think is) the sway bar is bolted to (or maybe through) the underside of the sub frame. Do you know if that is likely to to prevent me from lowering the sub frame to get the mount out?

  2. don't you have jack stand?? seriously, those hydraulic jack are not intended for holding your car for long period. and you're working under your car, that would be very dangerous.

  3. Can this be done with the car on ramps for plenty of access on the the engine? Or do the front wheels need to be suspended with removing the center bolts?

    1. Ramps are good as long as your jack can stretch that high

  5. Can anyone confirm that the engine mounts for the 93-97 engine mounts are the same for the 1.6L and the 1.8L as long as they are both for the automatic transmission? I'm having a hard time figuring out which motor mounts to get for my 1995 1.6L Corolla with an automatic transmission

    1. Yes they are the same , The only mount that is different is the transmission mount that all depends on auto or manual but all mounts fit 1.6 and 1.8
