DIY - Front Brakes & Rotors 2000 Honda CRV

This is a DIY for a 2000 Honda CRV Front Brakes with Slotted Rotors

To remove the calipers you need to unscrew the top and bottom bolt - Then you will see a tension spring that if you did not purchase the hardware kit you will be using these again - The reason it is called a tension spring cause this is what pushes your front pads back as the caliper opens - These are important to reinstall

Then with a 17mm socket you remove the caliper bracket so that you can remove the front rotor

On this vehicle you have two screws holding the rotors to the hub

Make sure you have the lines facing forward or read the sticker driver side and passenger side face different ways

Only on the bolts you need to apply anti seize

This vehicle takes ceramic pads

With the caliper tool push the calipers back then starting putting everything on the same way you took it off

When putting the caliper back on you will have to squeeze the pads to the rotors because the spring tensioner will push the pads out until the caliper surrounds the pads - What I did was slip the bottom of the caliper first then leave a opening to put the spring tensioner for the top then slide the rest of the caliper

There you have it

In this DIY I'm putting on slotted rotors so make sure before you install the new ones that they are facing the correct direction and they are the correct size

Carefully push back the caliper

Replace the hardware kit

Remember to remove the old wear sensor from your old pad to your new one or if the hardware kit come with this clip then install the new one

Once you have completed everything then you put it all back together the same way you took it off .

DIY - Rear Brakes and Rotors 2000 Infiniti I30

This is a DIY for a 2000 Infiniti I30 rear brakes

First you remove the two bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket - If needed use a screw driver to take the caliper off - Then separate the pads from the rotors - Then remove the two bolts holding the bracket to the rear axle

When putting on new rotors make sure they match - If using slotted rotors make sure you realized there is a left and a right

Rear calipers on some cars have to be twisted back an not pushed - You will need a brake caliper tool - Match up the correct slots cause they do come in different sizes - Make sure when twisting you don't twist the rubber part it should twist easily

Once you finished then you out everything back the same way you took it off .

Some rear rotors have emergency brake shoes inside - In this case there are non

DIY - Front Brakes and Rotors 2000 Infiniti I30

This is a DIY on how to replace front brakes and rotors on a 2000 Infiniti I30

First you remove the two bolts holding the caliper to the caliper bracket , Using a screw driver if needed to help pry the parts apart gently

Once you remove the caliper hang it some where safe where it will not fall and brake the line

Then you can remove the two bolts holding the bracket to the spindle

Then with a brake caliper tool push the cylinder back - Make sure you unscrew but do not remove the brake master cylinder cap so that when you push the fluid back it will be easier - Do not leave the cap off cause brake fluid will absorb moisture .

It is recommended to replace the hardware kit an do a brake flush - If your not replacing the rotors then have them resurface - If you haven't done a brake flush this is the perfect time to do so .

Once you have completed everything then you can put everything back together , Test brakes before starting the vehicle.

DIY Corolla 98 - 02 Brake Light Switch Replacement

This is a DIY for a brake light switch replacement on a Corolla . This can DIY can be use on most Toyota vehicles or others cause the switch is located on most cars in the same area .

Follow the brake pedal all the way up till you see where the power brake booster shaft and the pedal shaft meet . From there you will remove the small spring that keeps the pedal forward . Once you remove the spring you will see the brake light switch .

The easiest way to remove this is to unplug the switch first then with a open end wrench there is a nut that locks the switch to the frame , one you loosen that nut then you can unscrew the switch from the bracket .

Then you put the switch back , Now there is a plastic piece that the button pushes on , make sure that the plastic piece is still there and not cracked or broken , Sometimes these go first and give false readings , In this case your brake lights will stay on constantly .

Make sure you adjust the pedal to the switch , You want to as soon as you step on the brakes that the back lights come on . You must be careful you don't kill the battery when you do this cause the brake lights will stay on until switch is installed properly . Once you have it adjusted then you tighten the locking nut to the frame . Make sure you put the spring back on as well .
