DIY Replacement Front Slotted Rotors 05 Toyota Corolla

This is a DIY on how to remove your stock front rotors and to replace them with slotted rotors .

While doing this replacement you might as well change the front brakes which I did in this DIY .

Basically you remove the brake caliper , The brake caliper bracket and you might have to add PB blaster to remove the front rotor - Sometimes you have to hit the rotor hard with a hammer in this case I will NOT be using the stock rotors but if you are gonna use the stock rotors then use a brass hammer instead .

While you have everything off make sure you spray brake cleaner to the new rotors to remove any oil on it .

Grease the channels so the brakes can slide on the clip and the brake squealer clip as well .

Put everything back - Make sure the rotors are facing forward - There is a left and a right side - Put brakes back on and there you have it front slotted rotors .

This is a DIY for a 2000 Honda CRV rear brakes conversion to slotted rotors

First you remove the rear brake caliper then you remove the brake caliper bracket

With a screw driver you remove the two screws holding the rotor to the shaft

Inspect and clean emergency brake shows that are located inside the rotor

Replace all the hardware that is supplied - make sure slotted rotors are facing the correct direction - put everything back the same way you removed the old parts

DIY - Front Brakes & Rotors 2000 Honda CRV

This is a DIY for a 2000 Honda CRV Front Brakes with Slotted Rotors

To remove the calipers you need to unscrew the top and bottom bolt - Then you will see a tension spring that if you did not purchase the hardware kit you will be using these again - The reason it is called a tension spring cause this is what pushes your front pads back as the caliper opens - These are important to reinstall

Then with a 17mm socket you remove the caliper bracket so that you can remove the front rotor

On this vehicle you have two screws holding the rotors to the hub

Make sure you have the lines facing forward or read the sticker driver side and passenger side face different ways

Only on the bolts you need to apply anti seize

This vehicle takes ceramic pads

With the caliper tool push the calipers back then starting putting everything on the same way you took it off

When putting the caliper back on you will have to squeeze the pads to the rotors because the spring tensioner will push the pads out until the caliper surrounds the pads - What I did was slip the bottom of the caliper first then leave a opening to put the spring tensioner for the top then slide the rest of the caliper

There you have it

DIY - 2009 Toyota Rav 4 Rear Brakes and Rotors Replacement

This is a DIY for a 2008 Toyota Rav 4 WITH OUT 3rd row seating .

There is a difference in pads and rotors if you have 3rd row seating vs non 3rd row seating

First thing you do is remove the caliper and the caliper bracket

Once you have the rotor off inspect your emergency brake shoes because they are inside the rotor and some people when replacing brakes whether they remove the rotor or not do not inspect or even think about replacing the emergency shoes

In this DIY I'm using a slotted rotor make sure there facing forward

You noticed in the first photo there are slots and these slots are important because they must line up on the hole in the rotor - That is there so that you can adjust the emergency brake shoes - Make sure you transfer the rubber piece so that water or dirt doesn't get into the shoes

Gently push the caliper back

Remember to replace your brake hardware

The rear pads have wear sensors - If they do not come with your brake hardware kit then remove the old one and transfer to your new pads

Once you are done then put everything back together the same way you took them off
